Our treatments

Types of orthodontic treatment

Dental technology is improving all the time and you’ll always get the most comfortable and effective treatments at Oread Orthodontics. Dr. Wood and our team are dedicated to providing patients of all ages with the most up-to-date orthodontic treatment options available.

Braces

Braces

Most patients we treat at our Topeka and Lawrence orthodontic offices choose traditional metal braces to straighten their teeth. Metal braces are the most common type of orthodontic treatment, but you have other options, too. Oread Orthodontics also proudly offers clear braces, also known as ceramic or tooth-colored braces, to our Lawrence and Topeka area patients.

After your first free consultation, Dr. Wood will talk to you about which braces treatment would be right for you based on your unique needs and smile goals.

Invisalign®

Invisalign®

Unlike traditional braces, this kind of orthodontic treatment doesn’t rely on a system of metal or ceramic brackets and wires.

The Invisalign system is made up of a series of custom clear trays called aligners that are removable and nearly invisible. This is perfect for Oread Orthodontics patients who want a more subtle treatment option. We offer Invisalign® for adults and Invisalign® Teen in Topeka and Lawrence, KS.

Straightening your smile

Dr. Wood can successfully treat many dental issues for your child or yourself.

By pairing state-of-the-art technology with our understanding of the movement and growth of the teeth and jaws, Dr. Wood can successfully treat many dental issues, like:

  • Crowded teeth
  • Gaps between teeth
  • Protruding teeth
  • Overbite
  • Underbite
  • Crossbite
  • Impacted teeth

Fixed vs. removable appliances

At Oread Orthodontics, we believe patients should be well-informed when it comes to their treatment. It’s important to understand the difference between fixed and removable appliances. Fixed appliances, like braces, are attached to your teeth and aren’t taken off until you complete your treatment.

Removable appliances, like the Invisalign® clear aligner system, are worn about 20-22 hours a day but can be taken off easily. Besides the obvious differences, Dr. Wood uses Invisalign aligners to treat mild to moderate orthodontic problems.

At Oread Orthodontics, we generally use braces for more comprehensive treatment. Dr. Wood will be able to determine which treatment is best suited for your needs during your free consultation.
