Your first orthodontic visit

Welcome to Oread Orthodontics! We’re so pleased that you’ve chosen our practice to help you achieve a healthier smile, and look forward to working with you toward improved oral health. The first step in every orthodontic journey is an initial consultation, which is one of the most important visits you’ll have with us. It’s our goal to make this appointment as stress-free and exciting as possible, so let’s take a closer look at what you can expect!

When you arrive

The health of our patients and staff is our top priority. In light of the current pandemic, we’ve changed a few things around the office to make sure it’s a safe environment. This includes:

  • Increasing the amount of space between treatment chairs to at least 6 feet
  • Limiting our lobby area to patients only, except for minors and those in need of assistance.
  • Screening each patient’s temperature at the door using a contactless thermometer
  • Deep cleaning of high-frequency touchpoints frequently
  • Place sanitizing stations throughout the office for patients and staff to wash or sanitize their hands.
  • Staggering appointments to minimize contact between patients

These measures help us keep you, our team, and our community healthy. We appreciate your patience and cooperation! When it’s time for your appointment, we’ll bring you back, go over your medical and dental history, and then take some digital photographs of your mouth and teeth. We may take a few X-rays as well, if we feel it’s necessary. Following this, you’ll meet Dr. Brent Wood! He’ll perform an examination, review your photos and x-rays with you, and then discuss any questions or concerns you have about your smile.

The information we obtain from your history, images, and your exam gives Dr. Wood what he needs to determine if orthodontic treatment is indicated for you. During this first visit, you can expect to spend about an hour with us between your exam and discussing important topics, such as:

  • Any oral issues you are experiencing
  • If treatment is needed immediately or if waiting is recommended
  • What treatment options are available to correct the problem
  • An estimate of how long we expect your treatment to take
  • The total investment required for treatment
  • Any payment or financing options we have available to you

Here at Oread Orthodontics, we’re proud to provide patients with a customized approach to care and personalized treatment plans. This allows us to consistently produce beautiful and long-lasting results!

What’s next?

If Dr. Wood determines that treatment is needed and you decide to move forward with it, we’ll schedule an appointment for you to come in and have your orthodontic appliance fitted. Depending on your treatment plan, you’ll have follow-up appointments with us every 4-8 weeks or so. During these visits, Dr. Wood will monitor your teeth to make sure they’re moving the way they should be, and will also adjust your appliance if necessary.

These visits are an essential part of your orthodontic treatment, so you should try your best not to miss any. For your convenience, these check-ups can be done in the office or through a virtual visit! We know that things sometimes happen—if you find yourself running late or can’t make your appointment for any reason, we ask that you please let us know as soon as possible so we can reschedule you for another day. This helps us keep your treatment on track!

Throughout your orthodontic journey, you should continue visiting your family dentist for regular checkups and cleanings. If any extra dental care is needed, we’re happy to coordinate care with your dentist.

Investing in a healthier smile

At Oread Orthodontics, we believe every patient should have access to affordable, high-quality orthodontic care. We’ll outline your personalized treatment plan during your consultation, including a breakdown of all the fees. You never have to worry about hidden costs with us! We’ll always ensure you understand the investment needed for your new smile before we begin treatment.

The total cost of treatment will vary from case to case since every smile is different and each patient responds to treatment in their way. We offer personalized financing options and accept many insurance plans. Down payments start as low as $75, with payments as low as $125 per month! Payment plans can also be extended for up to 36 months, even if that’s after your treatment has ended. It’s our goal to ensure everyone can get the orthodontic care they need.
